TamTam Books’ Event at City Lights Bookstore: Boris Vian Salon

Boris Vian Salon
Thursday, June 28th, 7 pm

Boris Vian Salon
with Tosh Berman and Boris Vian translator Paul Knobloch

Join City Lights and Tam Tam Books in celebrating an evening of readings and discussion revolving around the life and work of Boris Vian. Vian was a French writer, poet, singer, and musician who’s works were often highly controversial and who’s performance of jazz songs gained the admiration of many famous personalities. He is the author of I Spit On Your Graves, Foam of Daze, Autumn in Peking, as well as several other books. He was also the French translator of Raymond Chandler. Tosh Berman, publisher of Tam Tam Books, and Vian translator Paul Knobloch will present an evening of readings, recorded music, and lively discussion about this enigmatic figure in the world of French literature and pop culture. We will explore the realms of jazz, dark nightclubs, alcohol, the pleasure of sexual encounters, the first sting of love, the beauty of destruction, transgressive writings, and much more. For these are the things that Boris Vian was made of.

Tosh will also be making a limited edition CD-R of rare Boris Vian recordings to be given out to those who purchase a Boris Vian book during the event. First come first serve. Very limited edition. 30 copies and that’s that!
