Jacques Tati's "Mon Oncle" soundtrack with liner notes by Boris Vian

The Phillips original issue to the soundtrack to Jacques Tati's masterpiece "mon Oncle."  The composers are Frank Barcellini and Alain Romans.  Both film and soundtrack EP came out in 1958.  And...

And on the back we have liner notes by Boris Vian!  Too much genius in one package!

You're right about that, Tosh. Too much genius. Am still saddened that 'Confusion,' the film that would have united Ron & Russell Mael with M. Tati, never made it past the planning stage (nor do I believe were Sparks mentioned in David Bellos' Tati bio, curious).

"Confusion" in the hands of Tati with Sparks would have been fantastic. I can see it in my mind as a film. I've read Bellos fine book on Tati, and I think there is a photograph of Ron and Russell with Tati in the book - but it doesn't give them credit in the photo or in the text. Bellos probably doesn't know anything about 'pop' music or maybe blind to it. But I wonder where Tati first became aware of Sparks? Strange, but I find Sparks sort of the perfect music representation of Tati and his work.
